Access to Wikipedia from China
Berkman has a bit on their site about access to Wikipedia from China because of Hiawatha Bray’s Boston Globe article about the topic. An article rich with Berkman connections (Fellows Jimbo Wales and Rebecca MacKinnon and executive director John Palfrey), it discusses some of the issues about China’s efforts to blog certain Internet access.
At blog group, Rebecca has told us a lot about the state of Internet filtering, blogging, and Internet access in China. It’s her last blog group with us before she moves to Hong Kong. She’s done some really fabulous things while she’s been at Berkman. Her work, like the founding of Global Voices, has really inspired and educated me. I wish her the best of luck.
I’ll also miss running some of her radio interviews.
One of the nice things about knowing bloggers is that saying good-bye becomes something different. Sure, she’ll be on the other side of the globe and it will be sad not to run into her at Berkman, but I can still read her weblog.
Addendum 11/20: Well, strike that. Access to Wikipedia from China is no more.
