Happy birthday, Wikipedia

Wikipedia turned 6 years old last Monday.

However, there was an article in Dec 5 issue of Information Week that “Wikipedia will fail in four years, crushed under the weight of an automated assault by marketers and others seeking online traffic”
according to a law professor.

Nicholas Carr of Rough Type has a posting called “Is Wikipedia a black hole?”. It’s about Wikipedia making links invisible to search engines like Google.

Steve Rubel of Micro Persuasion has a posting called “The Wikipedia threat to the Google Empire.”

Also Wikipedia has implemented “cascading protection” against “indirect” vandalism of the main page.

Wow! I’m not the only one blogging at such a crazy hour! = )

Rich, thanks for posting about Wikipedia’s birthday! I completely forgot to do so, even though I remembered at some point on January 15th that I needed to write something about it.

    Happy Birthday, Wikipedia!

You’re welcome! I thought it would be a good time to do it with all of the info I had on Wikipedia. Anyhow, sometimes I don’t sleep until
2 am. (No more decaf coffee after 12 pm)

    Cheers
