Remember how I usually forget to talk about something in my presentations? Someone said something to me tonight about referer spam and I realized I didn’t mention it in my Spam Con talk (which I still need to finish and post and give to the con organizer).

The conference was highly blog worthy, but as usual I have a substantial backlog.
Fortunately, the conference proceedings are up.
Most interesting was the “wildcat” nature of the conference. Spam is a monstrous problem, but despite big promises, industry leaders have not produced good solutions. Bravo to Crash, Bryte, Lenny, and you for taking initiative and bringing some attention to work in the field.
The conference was heavily weighted towards e-mail spam. I gather that is more or less representative of the industry. But I find blog spam MORE annoying than because it makes it necessary to either spend a lot of time moderating comments or leave them turned off which is a big loss.
