Examples of How Web 2.0 Can Help Crisis Communications

The tragic shootings this past week at Virginia Tech pose huge challenges to campus communicators everywhere. It’s easy to look back at the events and critique how, where, and why communication efforts failed. It’s much more difficult to be in the situation itself and make decisions about what to do in a timely and effective manner. If university communications officers adopt various new technologies, communicating during such future crises or even positive events of note can become much easier.
