Invention of the Camera Phone
Gadgets like camera phones are changing how people do all sorts of tasks, from blogging to catching criminals to showing friends that cute someone noticed on the street. The January 6 Weekend America asks the camera phone inventor, Philippe Kahn, why he felt the need to create the gadget while his wife gave birth and explores the history of the tool. This particular segment is rather political in nature because it uses the videos of Saddam Hussein’s execution as a frame for the discussion.
(As good as I find the interview with Kahn, I thought for a while before deciding to post the link because I don’t like talking about such political and controversial topics in this space. Those of you who have been reading the scratchpad for a while know I try to keep the conversation appropriate for work. I don’t mean to start a discussion about the conflict in Iraq, whether executing Hussein was right or wrong, etc. I know the interview will inspire strong feelings in some of you.)
(And, yes, I am, er, slightly behind in my podcast listening. Not nearly as behind as I am in my reading, though.)
