Hollywood Librarian film at ALA
Friday night, I saw the Hollywood Librarian: a look at librarians through film

It was a very good film about libraries, the different types of librarians and how librarians are portrayed through the years in film. At the end of the film, Ann Seidl talked about how she wants to distribute the film. She wants public libraries show the film for afee to help with the film’s costs. If there are problems with this, Seidl suggested having a Friends of the Library group show the movie. 1/3 of the fee would go to Seidl’s production company, 1/3 would go to covering distribution costs and 1/3 would going to the library showing the film. I don’t this suggestion would play well in Massachusetts public libraries since we are suppose offer services and programs for free.
