50th Anniversary of On the Road
Jack Kerouac’s novel On the Road, often thought of as a defining work of the Beat Generation, celebrates its 50th year of publication. When Kerouac wrote the book, he taped sheets of paper together and fed them through a typewriter. The resulting scroll is now traveling around the country in a special exhibit. Until October 14, it will be at the Boott Cotton Mills Museum in Lowell, Massschusetts—where Kerouac grew up. Lowell has an annual celebration of Kerouac’s life each October. For more information about visiting the manuscript scroll of On the Road, visit On the Road in Lowell.
Much like I did when I read On the Road, I feel like a road trip.
