Technology Review’s 2007 Young Innovators
Congratulations to all of the recipients of Technology Review’s Young Innovator awards!
Three are of particular interest to this community.
When Ivan KrsticĀ“ told me about his award, I was both surprised and not surprised. I’m not geeky enough to personally vouch for the quality of what he’s been doing, but a lot of my geeky friends assure me he’s pretty amazing. Director of security architecture for One Laptop Per Child who created the security platform Bitfrost, people often blink in disbelief when they find out how young Ivan is. He’s done fabulous work and he’ll do much more. I first met him because of our work with Wikimania in 2006.
Remember the post in May about reCAPTCHA, a type of form using unclear words from digitized texts to try to block spammers? Technology Review included Luis von Ahn, one of the people behind it, among their top young innovators.
Kevin Rose of Digg and many others are also on the list. (Maybe the reddit guys will be on next year’s list.)
(Yeah, ok, this news might be kinda old to you. My problem lately hasn’t been a lack of items to blog. It’s finding the time later to push the publish button. This one has been in my stack for way too long.)
