Spam for Thanksgiving

While I’m thankful for all of you readers and commenters, I admit I’m not terribly thankful for the 117 comment spams I found this morning. The spam originated from a number of IP addresses, like it normally does, but each one contains an identical message pointing to a number of URLs on a server at one of my alma maters. I wrote the administrators of the site to where the comments pointed to let them know it looks like someone infiltrated their site to create a number of bogus pages advertising various medications. I imagine other blogs on this server might see similar comments. Not wanting to deal with more comments in that attack, I have, sadly, locked commenting down again. I know that’s a problem for some of you, but I don’t want to deal with inappropriate comments during this holiday weekend. Unfortunately for us bloggers, spammers have learned when people are less likely to be monitoring their weblogs and are taking advantage of popular holidays to get their advertisements out there when they might be visible for a few days. Thank you for understanding and for your patience while I have comments locked down.

Anyway …

I really am appreciative of all of you who have spent time reading my words over the past years. “Your such a lovely audience, we’d love to take you home with us.”

Happy and safe Thanksgiving!
