International Tracing Service of the International Committee of the Red Cross Digitzes Holocaust Documents
An employee of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum had the foresight to dig through trash bins when he learned a Jewish memorial book collector’s heirs were cleaning out the library. These yizkor books are part of a key collection with the names of many Holocaust victims and survivors. An Associated Press article discusses this collection and the efforts to provide even more access to rare Holocaust documents the International Tracing Service of the International Committee of the Red Cross administers and is digitizing. This important task will provide far greater access to the archive, create multiple copies of rare works, and aid anyone wishing to research the Holocaust, genealogists and scholars alike.
