At Least One Librarian Attended BarCamp …
One of my best moments at BarCamp Boston 3 was when a woman walked up to me to ask for whom I worked. I guess my Babbledog jersey wasn’t obvious enough for her, kinda like how I didn’t guess the fellow wearing the Google shirt actually worked for Google.
When we started talking a bit more, I learned she’s a library and information science student at Simmons College interested in information architecture. Nifty and yay! I’m happy knowing at least one person from the LIS community came. She told me, “I’ve seen email from your librarian.” When I told her we don’t have a librarian, she didn’t believe me until I explained I was the one sending the email to various Boston area librarian groups. Whether I’m still a librarian or not, I’ll leave up for debate by others. I’m still active in librarian communities.
Another best moment was when I jokingly mentioned to someone that no one had asked me to dance yet, despite me putting that in my BarCamp profile, and we immediately waltzed in a corner of the cafeteria. I think that left me grinning for the rest of the conference.
