Wednesday WIP – the beginnings of a quilt!

 quilt-pieces.jpeg

Is it me or does it seem like just about everyone in crafty blogland are making doll quilts (see here for example)?  Anyway, this is what I did last night with the little 2.5″ vintage fabric squares I won from Ebay.  I decided to group the patches by color.  I don’t have a plan yet for the quilt(s) but it sure is fun to play with fabric squares!

My Ebay addiction

Yup, I’m still at it…bidding on vintage fabric on Ebay.  I won this lot even though I mostly just wanted the pretty pink and brown fabric (there are 4 yards of it!).

The voting began on the Softie Awards so please go and vote!  There are 12 categories and lots of great softies.  Here’s my sewing machine cover  that made it into the Cozy Finalists.  The front is meant to look like a modern house and the windows and door are actually pockets for sewing accessories so it’s multifunctional!

Becoming domesticated

Some vintage aprons I got from Ebay.  I’ve never owned an apron before these and it was fun wearing them at work and at home doing the dishes.  I think they make me want to do more housework although I’d hate to get them dirty.  I’m watching a few more vintage apron lots on Ebay…I’m becoming addicted!

and last but not least…an organdy apron as a water cooler cozy!

Fabric cuteness

 superbuzzy-fabrics.jpeg

I finally caved and got some fabrics from Superbuzzy.  These are imported from Japan and I love the graphics.  They are so cute and happy looking.  I don’t know what I’m going to make yet (they’re almost too nice to cut into) but I’m sure they’ll be great in anything (placemats, coasters, curtain edge, kid’s quilt…).

Looking at other people’s crafts blogs can be a dangerous thing for the wallet.  Here’s another fabric place that other crafty bloggers have mentioned, Cia’s Palette.  Aye, I’m going to have to set some ground rules for myself.

A quilt, a quilt!

I can’t believe I found a handmade quilt at the thrift store!!!  I’ve been thinking about making quilts recently and have been buying vintage fabric on ebay and drooling over all the beautiful quilts that crafty bloggers make (Angry Chicken, Paletas quilt, and All Buttoned Up) and lo and behold, I met one in person!  This quilt does not have batting although it does have a backing.  It also isn’t quilted.  I’m not crazy about the denim pieces but there are a lot of cute fabrics in the quilt.  Some of the patches are completely worn out and I might take out the pieces I like for my own quilt.
