There's no doubt we're currently experiencing a revolution in the ways information is being distributed. But just as in any revolution it takes time for best practices to evolve and prove themselves. So while right now there's a whole lot of noise there are a growing number of bloggers who are experimenting and discovering how to push the boundaries of reach and influence via blogging and social media. And while they're paving the way what is clear is that any traditional media that does not embrace social media is akin to taking a knife to a gun fight.

The internet seems to be the "people first" the author is looking for. Everyone with a computer is now a journalist.

Interesting article I found informative.

I might have to look into his book What Are Journalists For?

You got to like a guy who is a advocate of people-first.

blogging is independent. Jornalism often not. The jornalist must often represent the opinion of the great lords what is real bad. So many times they "manipulate" the news. by blogging it doesn't exists. But blogging reach only a few thousand people (if it is succesfull)
