Michael Rubin

Michael Rubin is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, senior lecturer at the Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Civil-Military Relations, and editor of Middle East Quarterly. Previously, he was a political advisor to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad and as staff advisor on Iran and Iraq in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Dr. Rubin earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees respectively in biology and history from Yale University where he subsequently lectured. He later worked as a visiting lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and three universities in northern Iraq. He is the author of Into the Shadows: Radical Vigilantes in Khatami’s Iran (Washington Institute, 2001) and co-author, with Patrick Clawson, of Eternal Iran: Continuity and Chaos (Palgrave, 2005).
