Michele Dunne

Michele Dunne is Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and Editor of its Arab Reform Bulletin. A Department of State official from 1986-2003, Dunne served in a variety of assignments related to the Middle East including the National Security Council staff, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, and the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff. Dunne’s research interests include political and other public discourse in the Arab world, trends regarding political, economic, and social reform in the region, and U.S. policy and public diplomacy toward the Middle East and the Muslim world. She holds a PhD in Arabic language and linguistics from Georgetown University, where she was a visiting assistant professor of Arabic from 2003-2006.
