Dear Mr. Graf, dear friends,

Last week Francesca read to us a portion of the transcript of another judicial interrogation in the matter of the investigation into the death of the child Joseph Abdulla. The witness was a young boy from Sebnitz. The transcript has the Dresden district court file number 270 Gs 3141/00 414 Js 53329/00; the interrogation was carried out on 21 November 2000, at ten o’clock in the morning.

Francesca continued with the reading from where she ended last week:

(Continuation of the witness’ answer): “Joseph couldn’t swim. I heard that later from his family. I didn’t know that when Joseph was thrown in.

“Sandro Richter then jumped on Joseph’s body, when he was in the swimming pool. I saw that myself.”

In answer to the question, as to whether he had really seen that: “I saw it partly, partly. I looked there and then looked away again. Also, other people confirmed that later to me.”

In answer to the question as to why he hadn’t helped Joseph: “Antonio Keleman came to the place where I was lying down, and he said someone was lying in the water. I thought right away that it was Joseph, and then I’m with Antonio Keleman on the edge of the pool and I saw Joseph farther down there, lying face down in the water, at the bottom of the pool. Then I jumped into the water with Antonio. Antonio Keleman and I pulled him out. Then we went a little father away, and the swimming pool attendant came; she was a fat lady, about thirty years old. Beforer, she was in the center (i.e., control room) where they operate everything.

“Then Mr. Goldschmidt arrived on his bicycle. He’s also a swimming pool attendant. He put his bicycle by the machine room. Then the ambulance came and Diana, Joseph’s sister.

“Then we all went.”

In response to a follow-up question about whether Sandro Richter and Maik Hauke had jumped around on top of Joseph: “I don’t exactly know any more.”

In response to a question as to why he had made such detailed statements to Joseph’s mother: “Well, no.”

In response to a follow-up question: “Oh, at our place then. Yes, that’s right.

“Frau Dr. Kantelberg, Joseph’s mother, is our landlady. I’ve been living there for about two years. She began with that then. First it was quiet for a long time, then suddenly she came to our place. Then I was supposed to tell what I saw.”

In response to the question as to why he doesn’t want to make any statements before the court or to the police: “It’s because of the right-wing scene.”

Sehr geehrter Herr Graf, sehr geehrte Freunde,

Francesca hat letzte Woche einen Teil eines Protokolls uns vorzulesen. Es war das Protokoll noch einer richterlichen Zeugenvernehmung in der Todesermittlugnssache des Kindes Joseph Abdulla, Geschäftszeichen des Amtsgerichts Dresden: 270 Gs 3141/00 414 Js 53329/00, am 21.11.2000 um 10.00 Uhr durchgeführt.

Sie fuhr mit dem Vorlesen fort, wo sie letzte Woche aufgehört hat:

(Antwort des Zeugen fortgesetzt): Der Joseph konnte nicht schwimmen. Das habe ich dann später gehört von der Familie. Ich wusste das zu dem Zeitpunkt, als der Joseph hineingeworfen wurde, nicht.

Der Sandro Richter ist dann auf den Körper des Joseph, der sich im Schwimmbecken befand, raufgesprungen, das habe ich selber gesehen.

Auf Frage, ob er das richtig gesehen hat: Ich habe das teils, teils gesehen, ich habe hingesehen und dann wieder weggeschaut. Das haben mir auch andere später bestätigt.

Auf Frage, warum er dem Joseph nicht geholfen hat: Der Antonio Keleman kam dann zu mir an meinen Liegeplatz und sagte, da liegt einer im Wasser. Ich habe mir gleich gedacht, dass das der Joseph ist und ich bin dann mit dem Antonio Keleman an den Beckenrand und da habe ich den Joseph mit dem Bauch zum Beckenboden liegend im Wasser schon weiter unten gesehen. Dann bin ich mit dem Antonio ins Wasser gesprungen. Ich und Antonio Kelemann haben ihn rausgeholt. Dann sind wir ein Stück weiter weg und da kam auch schon eine Bademeisterin, das war eine dicke Frau, ca. 30 Jahre alt. Die war vorher in dem Zentrum, wo die alles betätigen.

Dann kam der Herr Goldschmidt mit dem Fahrrad angefahren. Das ist auch ein Bademeister. Er stellte sein Fahrrad an den Maschinenraum. Da kam dann auch schon der Krankenwagen und die Diana, die Schwester des Joseph.

Dann sind wir alle gegangen.

Auf Vorhalt, dass Sandro Richter und Maik Hauke auf dem Joseph rumgehubst seien: Ich weiß es nicht mehr ganz genau.

Auf Frage, warum er gegenüber der Mutter von Joseph so gründliche Aussagen gemacht hat: Also nein.

Auf Vorhalt: Ach, bei uns dann. Ja, das stimmt.

Die Frau Dr. Kantelberg, die Mutter von Joseph, ist unsere Vermieterin. Ich wohne seit ca. zwei Jahren dort. Sie fing dann eben damit an, erst war eine ganze Weile Ruhe und dann kam sie auf einmal zu uns. Dann sollte ich erzählen, was ich gesehen habe.

Auf Frage, warum er bei Gericht und der Polizei keine Aussage machen will: Das ist eben wegen der rechten Szene.
