Ah, but the street clearing has never happened in Somerville, according to my landlady who has been here for 20 years. They've just "started to act like Cambridge" in the last couple of months.

Cosmically, you may be right, Alex, but it's true that I have helped the City of Somerville quite a bit, especially when I first moved here. And I can ill afford the $100 for the towing right now. Besides, why so outlandish a sum? With the production line way they do it, wouldn't 50 or 60 bucks be as reasonable?

Alex, I would be careful there, I can attest that Nathan has already done quite a bit to help the city of Somerville's coffers, and I'm not sure he wouldn't want a towing-company-free world at this point...my native rhode island instincts, however, suggest that offending the (always quite legitimate, I'm sure) businessmen who run towing companies contracted by the city is almost always a very bad idea...

Not to be utterly nasty, Nathan, but how precisely is the street to be cleaned if car-owners don't leave the street clear? I think towing your car is an excellent way for the city to raise revenue, to say nothing of increasing profit for their very good friends at the towing company (we wouldn't them to go out of business, now would we).
