Day 3 on factcheck.com story

0

Today, http://www.factcheck.com doesn’t point anywhere at all.  There’s an interesting back-story here, I’m quite sure of it.  (Aside: they’re undoubtedly still getting hits from this story, so why not point somewhere?  I guess “eyeballs” don’t count for what they used to.)

The Washington Post retells the tale thusly.  One quote of note from the Post story:

“Cheney wrongly implied that we had rebutted allegations Edwards was making about what Cheney had done as chief executive officer of Halliburton,’ the Annenberg site wrote in a posting yesterday. ‘In fact, we did post an article pointing out that Cheney hasn’t profited personally while in office from Halliburton’s Iraq contracts, as falsely implied by a Kerry TV ad. But Edwards was talking about Cheney’s responsibility for earlier Halliburton troubles. And in fact, Edwards was mostly right.’”

Update: and back to http://www.georgesoros.com again, which carries a short explanation: “We do not own the FactCheck.com domain name and are not responsible for it redirecting to GeorgeSoros.com. We are as surprised as anyone by this turn of events.”  So intriguing.
