Good morning! Here’s an interesting article from a recent issue of the New York Times. The article describes an ongoing feud between Ted Honderich and Colin McGinn over a review by McGinn of Honderich’s book, On Consciousness, in the journal, Philosophical Review, in the summer of 2007.

It’s a good example of how philosophical discourse can sometimes descend into blood sport. Yet, the feud has sparked some discussion about the nature of consciousness, as the article notes.

I have not read Honderich’s book, and have only skimmed the review article, so I cannot comment on the feud. But, for those interested in consciousness, philosophy of mind, and philosophical practice, the fight might be of interest.
