What Shall We Discuss Next?
December 8th, 2008
Good morning, readers, and welcome back after the weekend!
Okay, I am out of ideas at the moment, and am opening the discussion out to you — what would you like me to write about? What questions do you have? What books, sites, resources, etc., would you like me to review? Are there other library- or philosophy-related things about which you’d like me to write?
Feel free to leave your responses in the comment box, or send me an e-mail. I’m serious, folks. I know that people are reading this blog — I can see it from the site statistics — so speak up! I’d love to hear from you.
A Hymn to New England
October 10th, 2008
October is the month of painted leaves. Their rich glow now flashes round the world. As fruits and leaves and the day itself acquire a bright tint just before they fall, so the year near its setting. October is its sunset sky; November the later twilight.
– H.D. Thoreau, “Autumnal Tints” (from The Atlantic Monthly, 1862)
Good morning, readers, and happy Friday to you!
In lieu of a humor post this week, and in honor of autumn, I offer you a video of images of New England during the annual course of the seasons.
The images are set to John Williams’ “A Hymn to New England,” as recorded by the Boston Pops for their 1997 album, American Visions.
Administrative note: Monday is a holiday — Columbus Day — and I will not be posting that day. See you on Tuesday!
Comments? Ideas? Requests?
November 29th, 2007
Good morning, all! I’m out of ideas at the moment — I’ll write a post on POIESIS next week, when I have a little less going on. But, I’m curious: do you have things about philosophy resources at Harvard that you’d like me to write about?
A Plea
October 4th, 2007
Good morning, faithful readers! I’m a bit out of ideas at the moment, and am writing to you to ask for your help. Do you have questions you like me to help you answer? A burning desire to learn where to find out the air speed velocities of unladened swallows? The best places to find obscure philosophy-related information and materials?
My goal on this blog is to help you, my readers — I’d love to learn more from you how I can best do this. Please drop me a line and let me know. I’d love to hear from you!
