More evidence against my pet theories

According to this BBC article, a UC Berkeley study finds that personality can improve with age.  This might be construed as evidence against the theory, presented here just a couple of days ago, that undergrads are happier than old people.

I dunno… but much psychological research supports the idea of a particular happiness “set point” for people. Within a year of becoming paralyzed, quadriplegics are back to about the same level of happiness they experienced before the accident. An analogous phenomenon is seen with lottery winners.

    Dear Philip,

Do you feel that personalities evolve like software? I feel that with time, perhaps Linux will dominate the marketplace and the world will
adapt to its Counter-cultural values. I have been studying this, and feel that perhaps
it’s about time. People are getting sick of Micro$oft, and Business leaders only want results. Perhaps
Linux will bring it, and the new set of Icons for it I have evolved might be the key to
a whole new ‘personality’ for Linux: HERE
