Fun with the Incredibles DVD
Step 1: Insert Incredibles DVD Disk 2 (Extra Features) into DVD Player.
Step 2: Select Index from the menu.
Step 3: Select Next Page to go to the next page of options.
Step 4: Wait about 20 seconds for a weird little spider to appear in the top right of the screen.
Step 5: Hit the Up key on the remote and then the Enter key to select the little spider.
Step 6: Sit back and enjoy a clip of my cousin Doug Frankel riding a scooter through the hallways of Pixar.
Much more fun than the latest Star Wars movie (where is the humor that they had back in 1977?) and less time-consuming.
[Doug works as an animator at Pixar. His character on the Incredibles was Edna E. Mode, the fashion designer.]

Edna Mode was voiced by Brad Bird, the writer/director. That he took that role for himself, and the amount of fun he obviously had with it, kind of encapsulates what’s so great about this movie.

Have you seen the review of “Revenge of the Sith” in The New Yorker?

Gee, I wish I had a PhD so I could figure this out on my own.

Michael: Sadly a PhD was not adequate for figuring this out. My cousin showed it to me when I was over at his house in the Bay Area recently.

Ellis: Thanks for the link. I hadn’t seen this. I loved this part: The general opinion of “Revenge of the Sith” seems to be that it marks a distinct improvement on the last two episodes, “The Phantom Menace” and “Attack of the Clones.” True, but only in the same way that dying from natural causes is preferable to crucifixion.

Just how many cousins do you have in Hollywood anyway? And are any of them (a)wealthy (b) female and (c) available?

Thanks for the dvd rental suggestion for the holiday weekend.
I took the kids to see ‘Sith’ twice last weekend, I enjoyed the ‘liquid hot magma’ and dog fight scenes, the kids loved anything with Yoda in it.
For my money, I enjoyed the animated series more than anything in the last three movies. Hopefully, they will use that format for the follow on episodes 7,8,9. Waiting 20years just to see them is unwarranted.

Thanks to your tip on viewing your cousin’s courageous ride through Pixar (hope he survived), I discovered a whole bunch of Easter Eggs on the Incredibles disks that I hadn’t found before. Groovy!

This spider tip can be used on essentialy every page and subpage of the 2 discs to see secret content, discoverd this when i fisrt got the DVD. Do the exact same thing on every section of the DVD, wait for the spider, hit up, extra content. My favorite is a rendition of the movie done entirely with hand puppets, and performed by a lone animator involved in the project.

Hi! I’m Lily, I spent the summer in Cambridge, and bumped into you (along wiht a few other girls) I found your old email in my mailbox - so decided to check out how the traveling was going…sounds fabulous!
Haha; your cousin helped animate The Incredibles - how incredible!! (ah pun!) Edna was definitely one of my favorite characters. I just couldn’t figure out if he was metrosexual or gay (unless I’m thinking of the wrong character). Maybe you can find out for me :-P. Maybe I’ll catch you on the streets of Cambridge again!
