Why is it strange the boys don’t leave? There are plenty of women who stay in physically abusive relationships even after getting up 5 times.

It is hard to beleive the boys fathers would approve of this if given the chance to fight back…

Some of what you’re talking about (not in all cases) is actually a custom in this country… albeit what we may consider it.

These boys who choose this lifestyle (if you may) are called bah-zing-ar. They are often young, effeminate and from poor families. They are sometimes referred to as indentured servants, sometimes it is a chosen lifestyle.

They entertain at weddings (of the wealthy and those that can afford them) with their dancing and singing, often are flamboyant and usually serve a master. It is thought that they are taken from young ages (at 16 an Afghani child is considered an adult) and are given drugs (which they become dependant on), food, money and a roof.

It is accepted practice. Often it is true, a man will own his own Bahzingar and they’ll often travel, work and live together. Strangely enough, the boy doesn’t leave of his own accord, as he’s not bound and is quite free to walk.

It’s an age old concept isn’t it? In Rome and many other cultures they considered women for child rearing.. but did not consider them to have intellect or reason as we are ‘emotional’ creatures. lol.

And here I thought this was going to be about the now over 2 year old case here in England about a drunken twenty-something teacher having it off three fourteen year old boys, being portrayed as evil child abuser.

Three 14 year old boys and one blind drunken teacher? All I could think was “just who is abusing who here?”

may be there is a correlation between religion and .. this “michael jackson” syndrome. we seem to have a similar problem with priests in this country.

Judeo-Christian my @ss. What you really mean is secular values. Unless everything I’ve been told about fundamentalist Christians and Jews is wrong, women there are exactly as you said, property of the father and then the husband. Although admittedly this is all hearsay; I try to keep away from people infected by the religion meme.

Apparently the Taliban originally built their political base by rescuing boys who had been kidnapped by warlords for these purposes, and returning them to their families.

Sounds very Roman. Unfortunately this is nothing new. Reminds me of Fellini’s (Petronius’) Satyricon.

In the book “Charlie’s War” about the congressman who drove the funding of the mujahadeen in afghanistan during the 1980’s, they also refer to this practice. The book said the saying there was “women are for marriage; boys are for sex.”
