Al-Qaeda rides a bike at Logan Airport
File this one under “Cost of Paranoia”: Logan Airport shut down a runway for 20 minutes on Friday, delaying five flights, because a pilot saw a guy riding a bicycle along the perimeter road. It turned out to be an FAA employee. Full story: Boston Herald.

The folks at Logan are hopelessly paranoid. Of course there’s the case of tossing an MIT student in jail because she wore blinking lights on her shirt.
When getting a plane at Logan couple years ago, I had the bright idea of photographing my luggage before handing to the baggage folks, just to keep track of everything. The skycaps freaked out – clearly I was a TERRORIST who was SCOPING OUT the AIRPORT in order to BLOW IT UP. Had I not been there with my family, I’m sure I would have lost camera, and probably been detained as well.
Yes, two of the 9/11 hijacking squads took off from Logan. So did their collective common sense.
