Phys.org is a physics news service (with RSS feeds!) Three
categories are featured, namely Nano and Quantum Physics, Technology
and Applied Physics. A variety of news sources and publications
(such as Science) are tracked. You can even call attention to
your own paper and submit it for consideration. Discussion forums
are also featured on the site. Looks like a place to get informed
and to network. (Source: Moreover)

A&L is a fine digest of internet articles and news sources, revived
recently by the Chronicle of Higher Education. But it has always
been hard to discover new items without scanning the whole site.
Some wonderful person solved this problem with a feed. (Source; SciencePORT.org)

“News that comes to you,” is one of J.D. Lasica’s ways of describing
RSS and newsreaders in a broad overview, pointing out that online users
are surfing web pages less and using syndication tools to filter
more. Lasica covers most of the bases, although he lists Blogger
as offering RSS/XML feeds, which comes as a bit of a surprise, as I
thought they only did Atom now. (Source: beSpacific)

Sneaky academic newspaper… They had one for the job listings for a
while (which you can customize according to position sought, e.g.
deans) , but now they have one for Daily News and another called “The
Wired Campus.” Can A&LD be far behind? (Source; Digital Librarian)

BioMed Central, Receiving content from BioMed Central and The Scientist as an RSS headline feed.
BMC recently announced the availability of RSS feeds for their online
journals. This page explains how to get a feed for any BMC
journal (e.g. http://www.biomedcentral.com/bmccellbiol/rss) “by adding
/rss/ onto the journal URL.” They’ve also included a feed listing
the latest articles added to the BMC server, as well as lists of most
viewed articles for each title and the BMC platform as a whole.
This is another way for users to select content of interest and receive
it seamlessly through a desktop news aggregator or web-based news
aggregator. Talk about increasing exposure to open-access
publications! (Source: The (sci-tech) Library Question)

I like especially when he says: “Search specialist and librarians who will craft with time
investments appropriate queries to get at the information they were
looking for, will be generously rewarded with eternal fountains of
relevant info for the time to come.”
You bet!
