About

I live in Houston, Texas. My obsessions go a long way toward explaining me (and my uniquely useless mode of dilettantism) so I might as well just list a few. The stuffy ones: the brain, the Constitution, race, Internet regulation, behavioral econ, humanitarian intervention, terror and counter-insurgency, migration, the welfare state, documentary, the memoir, nationalism. The not-as-stuffy: recent art, new books, unprofitable movies, dance music and noise.

I’ll probably do several things at this blog. One thing I’ll try to do regularly is to aggregate reviews of books, to get a sense of their critical reception. Occasionally, time permitting, I’ll offer my own remarks on the books if I’ve had a chance to read them.
