J. Randall Short
I’m an associate professor at Tokyo Christian University, where I teach mostly biblical studies related courses in both the Japanese and English degree programs. I am the author of The Surprising Election and Confirmation of King David (Harvard Theological Studies), which was published in 2010. I live in Chiba, Japan, with my wife and three daughters.
I started my first blog here at blogs.law.harvard.edu in 2003 while studying for my general exams at Harvard Divinity School. Unfortunately, I let that one slip away when Weblogs at HLS switched from Manila to WordPress, but the good people there have been gracious enough to host my blog again.
I welcome interaction through comments and Twitter. You can follow my tweets here, and tweets from TCU’s Asian Christian Theological Studies for English Speakers program here.

I’m so happy to discover your blog (enjoyed all your posts, esp. your trip to India) but even happier to reconnect with you, Randall. (This is Alex Burgess – Manlius is middle name as well as web posting name.) I trust you and your family are well. We’re still here in Mass. We see the Legaspis many summers, but miss them. Next time you visit New England (do you go back to Harvard from time to time?), I would love to catch up with you. Christ’s peace, AMB.

Hey Alex! I just got back in touch with M.L. recently, and now I get to hear from you. Very happy to reconnect!
Unfortunately we haven’t made it back since leaving in ’06, but we’re looking for an opportunity. So many good friends in Massachusetts.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
