Easily Distracted
Okay, so after over a month of procrastination I’m finally hauling ass to get my final paper completed by next week’s deadline. I’ve spent most of today working on it and have 7 pages of my draft complete.
But because of cable internet access, it’s just too tempting (and easy) to surf the net. Of course, I tell myself I’m doing it for research on my paper (the title is: In My Humble Opinion: The Effects to Commerce, Politics and Society from Expressing Opinion via the Internet). So, I’ll look something up really quickly….and then start surfing for fun.
When that’s not distracting me, random things will pop into my head. Like why do Gillete products have all of their labels in English and French? I mean, logically I’m thinking it’s so they can market the same razor blades and shaving cream in Quebec. But why is it only Gillette that does this? I don’t notice other products in my local market that are multi-lingual. Is Gillette just being very cheap (or is it smart)? Is Gillette just bigger in Quebec than I thought? I mean, they’re corporate headquarters and even a factory are here in Boston so it’s not because it’s a Canadian product.
But I don’t know if I’m more perplexed that they have bilingual labels or that I’m actually so concerned about this that it’s distracting me from my homework.

Karl, darling – - I am at a loss. You’d think after 20 years knowing a person there would be few surprises left….but here we are and I am stunned.

You know, I’ve noticed bilingual labels (English and French) here in Chicago on deodorant. I figured that it has to do with product being sold in Canada, too. I think they are just cheap, using one label to sell stuff everywhere.
