FCC changes, round 2
National Public Radio’s Morning Edition carried a piece this morning about how Senate Commerce Committee Senators Ted Stevens (R, AK) and Fritz Hollings (D, SC) have created a bill to change some of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) limits back to what they were before the recent change. Mostly, it deals with closing a loophole regarding television station ownership, limiting cross-ownership (like when a newspaper owns a local television stations), and it tries to open the process of changing the rules. Stevens and Hollings are presenting this bill because of feedback from people across the country who are unhappy with the FCC’s rule changes, including members of the National Rifle Association.
