Next Wednesday, May 21st, the Ticknor Society will hold its annual meeting at the Massachusetts Historical Society. Following a reception at 5:30 PM and the business meeting at 6 PM, Ann Blair, Professor of History at Harvard University, will give a talk titled “Coping with information overload in early modern Europe”. Blair was recently awarded a MacArthur Fellowship, and her talk and the discussion afterwards should be very interesting.
If you are planning to attend, please RSVP to Peter Drummey by May 19th at pdrummey@masshist.org or 617-536-1608, x501. And, if you have never been to MHS before, directions are posted at http://www.masshist.org.
The Ticknor Society has been in existence a little over a year now, and the meetings are a good chance to meet with other “book people” in the Boston area and learn about rare books and book collecting. If these topics interest you, I encourage you to come to this meeting.
