The list of confirmed speakers is below. We will add photos, biographies, and additional participants as we receive them. James Billington Librarian of Congress Jill Cousins Europeana Robert Darnton Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor and Director of the Harvard University Library Robert Darnton completed an AB at Harvard and a doctorate at Oxford. After a short stint as a newspaper reporter, he was a junior fellow at Harvard, then taught history at Princeton until 2007, when he came to Harvard as director of the university library. Ferriero was sworn in as Archivist of the United States on November 13, 2009. Prior to his confirmation as Archivist, Mr. Ferriero was the Andrew W. Mellon Director of the New York Public Libraries. Mr. Ferriero was in charge of collection strategy; conservation; digital experience; reference and research services; and education, programming, and exhibitions. Venue The Digital Public Library of America Plenary Meeting will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater at the National Archives. The entrance to the National Archives is located on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, NW, in Washington, DC. The National Archives can be reached by cab or by public transportation: Subway Take the Yellow or Green lines to the Archives/Navy Memorial station. The Archives/Navy Memorial stop is across Pennsylvania Avenue from the Archives building. Bus Metrobuses 30, 32, 34, 36, 53, A42, A46, A48, P1, P2, P4, P17, P19, and W13 stop at the National Archives on Pennsylvania Avenue.
