And alive.  I would pay a lot to see today’s Al-Jazeera broadcasts (for instance); I hope they’re being archived somewhere.

Heading into NYC (or trying), I ended up waiting around with others getting on the chinatown bus yesterday.  W all *thought* we’d get on, that is.  The 12:40 departure from NY arrived after 22:30 in Bos, and most other buses and lines were cancelled.  Amtrak arrivals were delayed up to 1:30, too.  And today!  Well, we’ll just see.

Not only is the string theory expert and Nobel Laureate a good writer and fine lecturer (finishing a Boston tour this week), but he has a published on his website a guide for the aspiring theoretical physicist which is refreshingly clear, comprehensive, and encouraging.
